The event was attended by our new mayor, Bob Filner, Peter Whitely from the Tony Hawk Foundation, and numerous city and community leaders.

Park(ing) Day 2012 took place on Friday and Mid-City skaters represented! Music, skating, an impromptu best trick contents with 2 boards and cash prizes, and all the goings on of a beautiful urban park temporarily took over the an empty city lot at Fairmount and University Ave. Mayoral candidate congressman Bob Filner even made an appearance to show his support. Thanks to all who participated, especially to the skaters who came out entertain both themselves and the crowd! And thanks to Route 44 for the ramps and rails!
Join us for this event on Friday, September 21st where parking spaces across the globe are converted into temporary park space. The world isn’t just made for cars! We’ll be at 4021 Fairmount Ave (near University Ave) from 2-7pm. You’ll know you’re there because you’ll see this banner! Bring your skateboard!
