Skatepark Rally Recap

Tonight’s rally at Cherokee Point Elementary School helped show the wave of community support for a skatepark in City Heights! Below are photos of the event and coverage by CBS News. Click on the image below to view the video.

The event was attended by our new mayor, Bob Filner, Peter Whitely from the Tony Hawk Foundation, and numerous city and community leaders.

Had a Great Time at Skat(ing) Day!

Park(ing) Day 2012 took place on Friday and Mid-City skaters represented!  Music, skating, an impromptu best trick contents with 2 boards and cash prizes, and all the goings on of a beautiful urban park temporarily took over the an empty city lot at Fairmount and University Ave.  Mayoral candidate congressman Bob Filner even made an appearance to show his support.   Thanks to all who participated, especially to the skaters who came out entertain both themselves and the crowd!  And thanks to Route 44 for the ramps and rails!

Mid-City Skatepark on the airwaves!
